Sprinters Lead Cyclones on Final Day of KU Relays

Kansas Relays Results Beach Invitational Results

LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Iowa State women's sprints group highlighted competition for the Cyclones on the final day of the Kansas Relays, Saturday. Sophomore Kianna Elahi earned a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash. Elahi finished with a time of 54.76, her best finish as a Cyclone in that event.

Senior Lashawn Wright had a second-place finish in the 100-meter dash, finishing with a time of 11.81.

The women's 4x400-meter relay team earned the third second-place finish of the day for ISU, finishing the relay with a final time of 3:47.43. The men's 4x400-meter relay team finished third with a time of 3:13.55, a best time for the relay group.

4x400-meter relay: 1) Wartburg, 3:46.56; 2) IOWA STATE, 3:47.43.

NORWALK, Calif. - After competing at the Mt. Sac Relays Thursday and Friday, select Cyclone distance runners also saw competition at the Beach Invitational Saturday.

Senior Brandon Rooney placed first in the 1,500-meter run (3:47.20), after having a first-place finish in the 1,500-meter run at the Mt. Sac Relays Friday in Walnut, Calif.

Senior Erin Penticoff finished third in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:30.31, a personal best. Junior Ines Fischer finished fifth, running a 4:32.14, also a new personal record.

The Cyclones continue their outdoor season next weekend as they head to Des Moines for the Drake Relays. Results will be posted on cyclones.com.
