AMES, Iowa ? The Iowa State track and field team returns to outdoor competition this weekend at the Sun Angel Track Classic in Tempe, Ariz., and the Jim Duncan Invitational in Des Moines, Iowa.
"We hope to get some nice weather this weekend, and get another chance to have our athletes in competitive fields,” ISU head track coach Corey Ihmels said. “We need to keep moving forward with our eyes on the Big 12 meet. We got our feet wet a couple weekends ago in Texas and most of those kids are running this weekend in Arizona."
The 31st Sun Angel Track Classic will be held inside Sun Angel Stadium this weekend. Senior Jenna Caffrey will compete in the 100-meter hurdles Friday at 1:50 p.m. (CST), while sophomore Kianna Elahi will compete in the 400-meter hurdles Saturday at 5:10 p.m.
Sophomore Josh Koglin will compete in the hammer throw Friday at 4 p.m., while the men's 4x100-meter relay team will run Saturday at 3:20 p.m.
At the Jim Duncan Invitational, Cyclone squad members will compete against in-state rivals Northern Iowa and host Drake in Drake Stadium. Central, Graceland, Grandview, Grinnell and Simpson are among the competing teams.
Results will be posted on cyclones.com at the conclusion of the meet.
