PALO ALTO, Calif. ? The Iowa State women's golf team is tied for 11th at 302 after day one of the NCAA West Regional in Palo Alto, Calif. The Cyclones find themselves in the middle of the pack of the 24-team tournament. The top eight teams will advance to the NCAA Championships. Virginia and Arizona are currently tied for first at 291.
ISU posted ladder scores with senior Pennapa Pulsawath leading the way with a first-round 74. She was followed by Kristin Paulson (75), Laurence Herman (76), Victoria Stefansen (77) and Punpaka Phuntumabamrung (78).
Pulsawath, who is tied for 26th after the first round, had three birdies this afternoon. She was consistent throughout the day except for one hiccup with a triple-bogey on the sixth hole. Paulson also had three birdies en route to her 75.
Competition resumes tomorrow with 18 holes and will conclude on Saturday with the final 18 holes.
