PALO ALTO, Calif. ? The Iowa State women's golf team came up a little short in its quest to make the NCAA Championships, carding a 309 this afternoon in the final round of the NCAA West Regional at the Stanford Golf Course.
ISU finished 10th in the 24-team field at 908. The top eight teams advanced on to the NCAA Championships and the Cyclones were five strokes shy from the qualifying score. The 10th-place finish is the all-time best showing by the Cyclones in NCAA Regional competition.
Arizona won the team title at 876.
The Cyclones were led by junior Laurence Herman, who carded a 72 today to help her finish in a tie for 12th. Herman's three day total of 221 was two shots behind the individual qualifying score which advanced to nationals. It's the best individual finish ever by a Cyclone in a NCAA postseason event.
