Paulson Wins Iowa Amateur By Four Shots

IOWA CITY, Iowa- Iowa State junior golfer Kristin Paulson won the 2010 Iowa Women's Amateur Championship at Finkbine Golf Course in Iowa City yesterday. Paulson won by four shots with a three-round 217 tally (76-71-70) behind an outstanding final two rounds where she was 3-under par.
Paulson had eight birdies in the tournament to claim her first Iowa Amateur title and the second crown for a Cyclone women's golfer in the last three seasons. Pennapa Pulsawath, who graduated from ISU in the spring as one of the program's greatest golfers, won the title in 2008.
ISU junior Katelynn Hogenson had a solid showing, placing fourth at 224 (78-72-74).
Paulson, who compiled a 78.36 stroke average for the Cyclones in 2009-10, has had a productive summer on the links. She advanced to the match play portion of the 2010 U.S. Women's Public Links Championship in June.
