CORAL SPRINGS, Fla.- A pair of Iowa State women's golfers will have the unique opportunity to participate in the inaugural Hooters Women's Collegiate Team Championship, Aug. 3-5 at Achasta, By Reynolds in Dahlonega, Ga.
Juniors Kristin Paulson and Katelynn Hogenson will represent the Cyclones in the 55-team (two persons per team) event sponsored by the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA).
Many of the top players in collegiate golf will compete in the annual event, including five players ranked in Golfstat's top-50 from a year ago. Teams are comprised of players from all levels of collegiate golf, including 42 Division I, four Division II, six Division III and one NAIA program.
The 54-hole, stroke play event will change its format daily, ranging from alternate shot (Aug. 3), best ball (Aug 4) and aggregate score of the two players (Aug. 5).
Paulson, a native of Ottumwa, Iowa, has produced an outstanding summer on the links, advancing to the match play portion (top-64) of the 2010 U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links and claiming the 2010 Iowa Women's Amateur title in July.
A native of Muscatine, Iowa, Hogenson qualified to the stroke play portion of the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links earlier this summer.
