Currica Kicks Off Bill Bergan Multi-Events for Cyclones

AMES, Iowa - Senior Jamal Currica was the lone competitor for the Iowa State track and field team as the Cyclones completed day one of the Bill Bergan Multi-Events Thursday at the Lied Recreation Center.
After tying with Minnesota's Joey Schweke for first in the 60-meter dash (7.06), Currica currently sits in third through four events (3,110). The final three events will be completed Friday afternoon, along with the women's pentathlon.
Currica also set a new personal best mark in the shot put with a throw of 42-09.50.
Schwecke currently leads the heptathlon with 3,186 points after day one.
The Bill Bergan Multi-Events will resume Friday at 1:00 p.m. with the 60-meter hurdles in the pentathlon. The heptathlon will resume action with the 60-meter hurdles at 2:00 p.m. Results will be posted on cyclones.com at the conclusion of the meet.
