AMES, Iowa - Iowa State's Jordon Andreassen highlighted competition for the Cyclones on the final day of the Bill Bergan Multi-Events Friday at the Lied Recreation Center. The junior took second in the pentathlon with 3,455 points. North Dakota State's Kristen Killoran won the women's pentathlon with 3,667 points
"I'm happy with how Jordon competed," Iowa State multi-events coach Pete Herber said. "She's close to where she was two years ago and it's still early in the season. It was the first multi-event competition for Jenny (Dillon, 4th) and Kelly (McCoy, 6th) and I was happy with how they performed. We still have a lot of work ahead of us, but we're ahead of where we thought we would be."
Jamal Currica finished fifth in the men's heptathlon as the Cyclones' single competitor in the multi-event. Minnesota's Brock Spandl won the men's multi-event with 5,645 points. Currica's 5,174 points finish was a 48-point personal best in the heptathlon.
The Bill Bergan Invitational begins Saturday at 9:30 a.m. with the men's weight throw. Action on the track begins at noon with the men's 60-meter hurdles preliminaries.
