Cyclones Conclude Day One of Husker Invitational

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Iowa State track and field teams got their first glimpse of Big 12 competition Friday at Nebraska's Devaney Sports Center as they competed against conference rivals Missouri, Colorado, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Kansas State in day one of the Husker Invitational.

Laishema Hampton led the Cyclones' throws group as she recorded a third-place finish in the women's weight throw (62-06.50).

Junior sprinter Ian Warner finished sixth in the 60-meter dash preliminaries with a time of 6.82. Warner will advance to the 60-meter dash finals scheduled for Saturday at 3:10 p.m. CST. Clint Martin qualified for the 200-meter dash finals Saturday at 4:00 p.m. CST after finishing seventh in the preliminaries with a time of 21.75.

The Cyclones continue competition at the Husker Invitational Saturday with the women's shot put and the women's mile run scheduled to start at noon CST.
