BERKELEY, Calif. ? Iowa State multi-event specialists kicked off the start of the outdoor season as both men and women competed in the first half of their respective trials inside Edwards Stadium Wednesday.
Multi-event veteran
Jordon Andreassen led the Cyclones, finishing day one with 2,959 points, good for fourth-place in Group A competition. The Polk City native recorded a third-place finish in the high jump (5-04.50).
Coming off of a seventh-place heptathlon finish at the 2011 Big 12 Indoor Championships in February,
Jamal Currica sits in 12th-place with 3,022 points through five events of the decathlon. In the first event of the day, Currica ran to a first-place finish in the 100-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 11.13, and earned a second-place finish in the long jump with a best jump of 23-08.
In her first collegiate heptathlon appearances, freshmen
Jenny Dillon finishes day one in seventh-place with 2.173 points in Group A. Fellow Cyclone freshman
Anna Holtermann withdrew from competition after three events.
