AMES, Iowa – While a select group of Iowa State track and field athletes had the chance to begin their season last weekend at various meets in California, the rest of the Cyclone track and field team will open the 2011 outdoor season competing Friday and Saturday inside the Audrey J. Walton Stadium in Columbia, Mo. at the Missouri Relays.
It was mainly distance runners and multi-event specialists who competed last weekend on the west coast, but athletes from every event group will make the trip to Columbia this weekend to compete in their first events of the outdoor season.
Collegiate field events are scheduled to begin Friday at 11:30 a.m. CST with the women's high jump, while events on the track are slated for a 12:45 p.m. CST start with the preliminaries heats of the women's 100-meter hurdles. Saturday, the action continues at 11 a.m. CST with the men's triple jump and the final heats of the women's 1,500-meter run.
