AMES, Iowa - Six Iowa State golfers were named to the Academic All-Big 12 golf team, announced by the Big 12 Conference Tuesday afternoon.
First-team honors were given to men's golfers Jacob Aaholm, a senior in Marketing, and Tom Lathrop, a junior in Marketing. Laurence Herman, a senior in Management; Kristin Paulson, a junior in Materials Engineering; Punpaka Phuntumabamrung, sophomore undecided and Victoria Stefansen, a senior in sociology round off the women's first-team honors. All honorees had a 3.20 GPA or higher and competed in 60 percent of his or her team's scheduled contests in 2010-11.
Aaholm, a native of Hornbaek, Denmark, competed in four fall tournaments and tied for ninth at the Wolf Run Invite with a score of 218. Lathrop, a Nashville, Tenn., native, tied for sixth at the Desert Shootout where he carded a season-low 207.
Herman, who hails from Kortrijkm, Belgium, has played in all 11 tournaments and has a team-high five top-10 finishes with a stroke average of 74.50. Paulson, a native of Ottumwa, Iowa, has played 21 rounds with one top-10 finish this season. Phuntumabamrung, who is from Bangkok, Thailand, has played in every tournament this season and has four top-10 finishes. Stefansen, originally from Roervig, Denmark, has competed in all 11 tournaments with four top-10 finishes.
A total of 85 student-athletes were named to the team.
