AMES, Iowa ? The Iowa State track and field team is set for competition in the 102nd running of the Drake Relays Thursday through Saturday inside Drake Stadium in Des Moines. This will be the last meet for the Cyclones before competing in the Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championships May 13-15 in Norman, Okla.
The Cyclones will see action in six relay events this weekend on both the men's and women's side including the 4x100, 4x200, 4x400, 4x1600, sprint medley and distance medley relays.
Thursday's action will include competition in the 5,000 and 10,000-meter runs for the Cyclone men and women as well as the women's 4x1600-meter relay set for 4:40 p.m. CDT.
Friday morning action is set to begin for the Cyclones at 9:30 a.m. CDT with the preliminaries of the 4x100-meter relay. The men's 4x1600-meter relay will kick off Friday's afternoon session at 12:15 p.m. Friday's night session will feature the women's and men's 4x200-meter relay at 6 p.m. and 6:40 p.m.
The final day of Drake Relays will begin for Iowa State on Saturday with the morning session at 10:15 a.m. with the women's sprint medley relay. The Cyclones will kick off the Saturday afternoon session with the men's distance medley relay at 1:10 p.m.
Individual events for the Cyclones feature junior sprinter Kianna Elahi in the 400-meter hurdles, set for Saturday afternoon at 1:40 p.m. and seniors Josh Koglin and Britta Christofferson in the men's and women's hammer throw. The men's hammer throw is scheduled for a 12:30 p.m. start on Saturday while the women's hammer throw competition will get underway at 9 a.m. Saturday.
