Cyclones Finish 10th At NCAA West Regional

AUBURN, Wash. - The 19th-ranked Iowa State women's golf team finished 10th at the NCAA West Regional this afternoon after carding a 302 in the final round. The Cyclones ended the tournament with a three-round 913 total (305-306-302).
Iowa State's record-setting season comes to an end, as the Cyclones fell five strokes shy of qualifying for the NCAA Championships. The top eight teams advanced to the national meet, which will be held May 18-21 in Bryan, Texas. USC won the team title at 866 and Texas A&M locked down the final qualifying spot with a 908.
Senior Victoria Stefansen capped off her outstanding career by leading the Cyclones with a tie for 25th. Stefansen, who posted a Cyclone-best 73 this afternoon, ended the tournament with a 226 total. Freshman Prima Thammaraks was just one shot behind Stefansen at 227 (77-73-77), good enough for a tie for 35th.
Erica Popson of Tennessee won the medalist race at 208.
The Cyclones posted arguably their greatest season in school history this year, winning three tournament titles and achieving their highest ranking ever (No. 15). Iowa State returns four of its top six players for next season.
