Prima Thammaraks advanced to the match play portion of the 2011 U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship yesterday. Thammaraks fired rounds of 75-76 (151) to place 18th at the par-71 Bandon Trails at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort.
The top 64 golfers in stroke play advance to match play competition starting today. Thammaraks will square off against Purdue golfer Vaishavi Sinha of West Lafayette, Ind., this afternoon.
A native of Bangkok, Thailand, Thammaraks earned All-Big 12 First-Team honors in her freshman season for the Cyclones in 2010-11. Her 75.0 stroke average last year is the fifth-best season scoring average in school history.
Three other Cyclone golfers also competed in the event, but fell short of the cut: Beth Wagner (T83, 162);
Kristin Paulson (T100, 165) and Abbie Horan (T119, 168).
