AMES, Iowa – Four Iowa State swimmers and divers earned Scholar All-America honors from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America on Thursday. The Cyclones also received the Team Scholar All-American award for the 22nd season in a row. The team's Spring 2011 GPA of 3.2 ranked second among Big 12 schools.
The Team Scholar All-American award is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams, who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The award is presented to teams achieving this standard in the fall semester and in the semester of the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships (Winter/Spring).

Sarah Nelson and
Sarah Norris were all named honorable mention Scholar All-Americans for the Cyclones. It was the first time that any of the Cyclones earned the award. Nelson was nominated with a 4.0 GPA.
To be eligible for Scholar All-America status, the swimmer or diver must have a minimum 3.5 grade-point average and be invited to the NCAA Championships. All-America honorable mention candidates must also have a minimum 3.5 grade-point average and achieve either a 'B' qualifying standard in swimming or qualify for the NCAA Zone Diving Championships.
