ATHENS, Ga. –Iowa State's divers continued competition at the Georgia Diving Invitational Wednesday. The Cyclones saw competition on the 3-meter board at the Gabrielsen Natatorium.
"We have good signs here and there, we are not finishing our dives though," diving coach Jeff Warrick said. "We have talked about how we are going to change training and slowing down the pace of practice to reflect these bigger meets. We want to come into these meets prepared for the conditions."
Jessica Henderson led the Cyclone effort, posting a 19th place finish with a 196.65. Senior Jenn Botsch was close behind in 20th with a 196.55 and Sarah Nelson was 21st with 194.65.
"Jessica had a decent, solid meet but she failed her last dive," Warrick noted. "She would have been in finals. She did some really good dives and it was that last dive that cost her. We can't afford mistakes like that. She gave a good effort and we talked about not having that happen again. She stood out for us today."
Marley Dobyns finished 28th with 162.35, Dani Davis was 29th with 148.60 and Megan Cohea was 30th with 134.05.
"The freshmen are doing well," Warrick concluded. "They have a ways to go but they are learning and giving their best effort."
The invitational concludes tomorrow with platform diving. The women's diving commences at noon CST with men's diving taking place beforehand and beginning at 10 a.m.
