Cyclones Third After Two Rounds at Windy City

GLEN VIEW, Ill. - The No. 22 Iowa State women's golf team is in third place after two rounds at the Windy City Collegiate on Monday. The Cyclones fired rounds of 296 and 290 for a 36-hole 586 tally.
In a competitive field, which includes six teams ranked in the nation's top-25 by Golfstat, the Cyclones have two players currently in the top-10 after two rounds. Senior Punpaka Phuntumabamrung is tied for third in the medalist race (143) and junior Prima Thammaraks is tied for eighth (145).
Phuntumabamrung recorded five birdies en route to a 4-under par, second-round 68, which ties for the lowest score in the tournament. It is Phuntumabamrung's third sub-70 round of her career and one stroke shy from her school-record 67 she set at the 2009 Onion Creek Invitational.
The Cyclones are six strokes behind second-round leader Washington (580) and four strokes behind Arizona.
The tournament will conclude tomorrow with 18 holes.
