AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State women's golf team has moved its way into the national rankings with a strong start to the 2012-13 campaign. The Cyclones are rated No. 15 nationally by Golfstat, No. 19 in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings and 26th in the Golf World/WGCA ratings.
Iowa State's national ranking (No. 15) equals the highest water mark in the program's history. The Cyclones reached as high as 15th nationally during the 2010-11 season.
The Cyclones won their first tournament of the season at the Dick McGuire Invitational and most recently tied for fifth at the Windy City Collegiate, a tournament which featured 10 teams ranked in the nation's top-50.

Punpaka Phuntumabamrung tied for fourth at the Windy City Collegiate on Tuesday, carding rounds of 75-68-73. Phuntumabamrung, who was an All-Big 12 performer last season, has placed in the top-10 in four of her last six tournaments.
The Cyclones, who have won four tournament titles since the 2010-11 season, will be back in action on Oct. 12-14 at the Mercedes Benz Collegiate in Knoxville, Tenn.
