Three Cyclones Capture Titles At ASU Invitational

TEMPE, Ariz. - The Iowa State track and field team continued its strong start to the outdoor season with three student-athletes claiming event titles Saturday at the ASU Invitational inside the Sun Angel Stadium.

Cyclone senior Kianna Elahi took home the title in the 400-meter hurdles recording a time of 57.63. Elahi also anchored the second-place finishing 4x400-meter relay team to close out the meet for the Iowa State women.

Redshirt freshman Ryan Sander highlighted the meet's competition for the Iowa State men as he claimed the ASU Invitational title in the 110-meter high hurdles. Sander clocked a personal-best time of 14.51 in the event finals.

After redshirting last year's outdoor season, Iowa State's Danielle Frere returned in strong form for the Cyclones winning the shot title with a mark of 51-09.75.

Select Cyclones will return to Arizona next weekend for the Jim Click Multi-Event Shootout Thursday and Friday in Tucson.
