AMES, Iowa – Iowa State swimming and diving head coach
Duane Sorenson announced his squad's 2012-13 schedule Monday. The slate features four home meets, one more than last season, headlined by Nebraska and Northern Iowa.
The Cyclones begin the regular season on the road at Minnesota, on Oct. 12. The Golden Gophers are coming off of a strong season, finishing with a ranking of 15th nationally and are one of four Big Ten opponents on the schedule this season including Iowa and Illinois.
Iowa State will then play host to double duals on consecutive weeks, against South Dakota State and Western Illinois on Oct. 20 and South Dakota and Nebraska on Oct. 26 at Beyer Pool.
The Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series will resume vs. Iowa on Dec. 7 in Iowa City.
The final two home meets are against Nebraska-Omaha and Northern Iowa on Jan. 25 and 26, respectively. The UNI meet will also be Senior Day.
Kansas is currently the Cyclones' only Big 12 opponent and the two squads will face off twice. The first meeting will be Nov. 16-18 at the Kansas Classic in Topeka, Kan. The Invitational currently includes the KU, Nebraska and Arkansas. The second Kansas-Iowa State meet is Feb. 8-9 in Lawrence.
The Cyclones will compete at the Big 12 Conference Men's & Women's Swimming and Diving Championships in Austin, Texas, Feb. 27 – Mar. 2.
The first meets of the season will be the Alumni Meet on Sep. 28 followed by the Intra Squad meet on Oct. 5.
