AUSTIN, Texas—The No. 15 Iowa State women's golf team recorded a team score of 291 in round one of the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational this afternoon. Miami is the team leader with a score of 276. The Cyclones are tied for ninth. Round one was played under soggy conditions and featured a weather delay that pushed today's starting times back.
Sophomore Cajsa Persson, who is pacing the team in scoring average at 71.67 this season, fired a 3-under 69 this afternoon for her career low round. Persson is currently tied for third in the medalist race. Mississippi State's Jessica Peng and Miami's Dani Darquea are tied for first at 67.
Senior Sasikarn On-iam shot a 2-under 70 in round one, marking her lowest 18-hole score of the season. Her round featured two birdies and no bogeys to put her in a tie for 11th individually.
The second round of the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational will be played tomorrow and will be followed by a final round of 18 holes on Tuesday.
