Persson Paces No. 15 ISU To Fourth-Place Finish

AUSTIN, Texas— Iowa State sophomore golfer Cajsa Persson continued her assault on the Iowa State record books this afternoon, tying for fifth as an individual to help the 15th-ranked Cyclones finish fourth at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational.
Persson broke the Cyclones' 54-hole school record by carding a 6-under 210 with rounds of 69-69-72. Her consecutive 69s in the first two rounds earned her the distinction as the only Cyclone in school history to record back-to-back sub-70 rounds.
Persson, who is ranked 29th nationally in the Golfweek rankings, has placed in the top-10 in all three events this year for the Cyclones. Her 71.1 stroke average in nine rounds this season is on pace to shatter the single-season school mark.
Iowa State as a team shot a three-round 862 tally (291-282-289), the second-best 54-hole team score in school history. The tournament featured five teams ranked in the Golfweek top-30, including top-ranked and team champion UCLA (838).
Senior Sasikarn On-iam helped the Cyclone effort by tying for 14th with rounds of 70-72-73 (215). Her score ties for the ninth-best all-time in ISU history. Junior Chonlada Chayanun was one shot back of On-iam in a tie for 17th place at 216. Chayanun fired and even-par 72 this afternoon.
The Cyclones will wrap up their fall schedule at the Landfall Tradition, Oct. 25-27.
