DeLand, Fla. – Iowa State freshman
Ana Gasparovic, a Zagreb, Croatia native, earned her first win since arriving on campus in January, defeating Stetson's Jen Miller, 6-4, 6-1, to seal the Cyclones (1-2, 0-0 Big 12), 4-3, win over the Hatters (2-1) Friday afternoon at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.
The Cyclones got on the board first, capturing the always important doubles points with wins and the top two spots.
Iowa State then got singles wins from Cacciuttolo at No. 1 singles and
Emma Waites at No. 6 singles to go along with Gasparovic's clinching victory.
All three of ISU's singles wins were in straight sets, including Cacciuttolo's impressive 6-1, 6-0 win over Crespo in the top slot. Waites beat Eveline Lepinay, 6-1, 7-5.
The Cyclones will be back in action Sunday at Florida Gulf Coast. Doubles action will start at 10 a.m.
