Cyclones Fall To Florida Gulf Coast, 5-2

FT. MYERS, Fla. – The Iowa State tennis team wrapped up its weekend trip to Florida Sunday morning with a 5-2 loss to Florida Gulf Coast. The Cyclones fall to 1-3 this season, while FGCU improves to 3-1.

The Cyclones dropped the doubles point despite a win at No. 1 doubles from Ksenia Pronina and Jenna Langhorst over the Florida Gulf Coast duo of Morgan Bechtel and Bettina Botha. Pronina and Langhorst, who won their Friday contest against Stetson as well, beat the Eagles tandem, 8-2.

In singles action, senior Simona Cacciuttolo improved to 3-1 this spring with a 3-6, 6-2, 7-5 win over Sarah Means at the top spot. Freshman Ana Gasparovic beat Morgan Bechtel in a three-set thriller at No. 3 singles to capture the Cyclones' other point.

The Cyclones will be back in action Friday when they face BYU in Las Vegas, Nev.
