AMES, Iowa - Iowa State (3-0, 0-0 Big 12) closes its weekend road trip in East Lansing, Michigan, Saturday, against Michigan State (2-1, 0-0 Big Ten) in the Jenison Field House. The Cyclones opened the weekend with a 30-3 win over Central Michigan.

Series History
Iowa State enters the dual with a 14-3 series lead over Michigan State. The Cyclones have won 11 of the last 13 meetings, including their most recent matchup in a 30-10 victory in February of 2013.
Scouting Michigan State
Michigan State brings in one ranked wrestler in Javier Gasca (133). Gasca is 7-1 entering the weekend and is coming off of a 21-7 redshirt season that saw him earn five podium finishes in unattached competition. Gasca has a pair of ranked wins this season, defeating No. 13 Nick Soto (Chattanooga) and No. 17 Mackenzie McGuire (Kent State).
The Spartans also return two NCAA tournament qualifiers in Ryan Watts and John Rizqallah at 165 and 184, respectively.
Michigan State picked up wins over Kent State and Olivet College, losing to Chattanooga at the Eastern Michigan Duals. MSU takes on No. 2 Minnesota, Friday, before Sunday's dual against the Cyclones.
Cyclone Notebook
*Iowa State (3-0 overall, 0-0 Big 12) is undefeated in the young dual season. Cyclone wrestlers have picked up bonus-point victories in at least three matches in each dual.
*In the tri-dual against Boise State and Utah Valley, Cyclone wrestlers won 17 of the 20 individual matchups, picking up bonus points in 9 of the 17 (5 pins, 2 tech-falls, 2 major decisions).
*Through two tournaments and three duals, Iowa State wrestlers have accounted for 109 bonus-point victories behind 68 pins, 20 tech-falls and 21 major decisions.
*ISU currently has five wrestlers earning top-12 national rankings in the latest TheOpenMat.com poll. No. 3 Michael Moreno (165), No. 3 Kyven Gadson (197), No. 5 Earl Hall (125), No. 6 Tanner Weatherman (174) and No. 12 Lelund Weatherspoon (184) are each undefeated at 6-0 this season. Gabe Moreno also received a top-20 nod at No. 19 in the latest Asics FloRankings.
*The ISU freshman class was showcased at the annual Harold Nichols Cyclone Open, with four true-freshmen earning top-3 finishes and three more Cyclones working their way to the podium.
*Seniors Kyven Gadson and Michael Moreno return for their final seasons in an Iowa State singlet coming off a fourth-place and fifth-place finish at NCAAs last season, respectively. Last year's finish marking the second time in as many seasons that the grapplers have garnered All-American honors.
*Gadson has opened the season at 7-0, winning each of his dual matches on the season. He has now won 33 consecutive dual matches dating back to the 2012-13 season and is ranked No. 3 in every major national poll. Gadson started the dual season off with a pair of pins against opponents from Boise State and Utah Valley.
*Moreno was also a 30-match winner last season, compiling a 31-9 season record. He begins the year ranked No. 3, nationally. The Urbandale, Iowa native worked to a pin and a tech-fall in his opening matches, adding a major decision against Central Michigan.
*Moreno and Gadson are two of just nine wrestlers in the nation to win at least 30 matches and earn a spot on the NCAA All-America podium in both of the past two seasons.
*Tanner Weatherman and Earl Hall are off to fast starts in 2014-15. Weatherman has been an offensive machine. He has notched 18 takedowns in dual competition, averaging six per match. Hall hit his signature gator roll in his dual opener, pinning UVU's Jade Rauser befor majoring BSU's Michael Cook.
