RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico- The No. 22 Iowa State women's golf team is in third place after the first round of the Lady Puerto Rico Classic. The Cyclones shot a 296 this afternoon.
The field features seven teams ranked in Golfstat's top-30.
No. 8 Arkansas is the first-round leader after recording a team score of 288, eight shots better than ISU.
Senior Prima Thammaraks, who tied for fourth at last week's UCF Challenge, led the way for the Cyclones with a first-round 71 today. Thammaraks, who had seven birdies in round one, is currently in a tie for second.
Senior Sasikarn On-iam and junior Chonlada Chayanun aided Iowa State by tallying a pair of 74s in round one. The duo is currently tied for 18th.
All-Big 12 sophomore Cajsa Persson fired a 77 in round one.
Play will continue tomorrow with round two and the third and final round will be played on Tuesday.
