AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State soccer team (6-9-0, 0-5-0 Big 12) was victorious over Northern Iowa (5-7-3, 1-2-0 MVC) on Tuesday night. The Cyclones defeated the Panthers by a score of 1-0. ISU's lone goal came off the foot of Junior Koree Willer in the 74th minute.
The first half left the Panthers and the Cyclones locked in a 0-0 tie. The Cyclones were not without opportunity in the first 45 minutes. ISU rattled off 11 shots to UNI's four. Freshman Taylor Wagner was a big part of the Iowa State attack. She fired off three shots in the first half including one on goal.
It was only a matter of time before the Cyclones found the net in this one. Iowa State continued to pour out shots in the second half, tallying 20 for the game.
Finally, in the 74th minute, Koree Willer broke the 0-0 tie. Haley Albert sent a nice pass to the middle of the field to the streaking Willer. The Cyclone attack pressed toward the Panther net, and Willer sent it past the UNI keeper, into the bottom left corner of the net. Iowa State would hold on to their 1-0 lead to oust UNI.
Turning Point of the Game
Koree Willer's goal. Willer shook free of the Panther defense and scored what would eventually be the game winning goal for the Cyclones. Iowa State had been getting opportunities all game, but hadn't been able to execute. Willer was able to find the back of the net and lift the Cyclones to victory.

Koree Willer. Willer's scored her sixth goal on the year when she slammed the game winner home in the 74th minute. The Fort Collins, Colo., native has also accounted for Iowa State's last four goals scored. Willer was responsible for four of Iowa State's 20 shots on goal.
Coach Said It
“It felt good. Obviously not giving up a goal was huge. We haven't done that in a while. Not just getting the win, but getting a lot of quality shots. We had a lot of great looks at goal. It's something that we've been talking about. If you look at where we're at in the Big 12, we're last in the league in shots. With our forwards though, the amount of shots they've taken and the amount of goals they've scored, they're second in the league in shot percentage. If we get more shots off, we score more goals. To come back and keep fighting, I think it shows the resolve of the team to keep fighting and to win.”
Game Notes
*Koree Willer scored her team high sixth goal of the season
*Lindsey Hendon posted her sixth shutout of the yeare
