AMES, Iowa – Iowa State (2-2-1, 0-0 Big 12) fell in the first leg of the 2026-27 Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series to Iowa (4-1, 0-0 Big Ten) Thursday evening by a score of 2-0.

The Hawkeyes grabbed an early advantage, drawing a foul inside the box to earn a penalty kick, which it then converted. After coming out of the break with a 1-0 lead, Iowa tacked on a second score in the 59^th minute to distance itself as it went on to earn its fourth win of the season.

Iowa State's offense was limited Thursday evening, as the Hawkeyes held ISU to just two shots. Danica Lunceford had the team's lone shot on goal, which was subsequently handled by Braelynn Galt. Cyclone keeper Eme McClenahan had a career night, picking up 10 saves, a personal best.

The Hawkeyes were led offensively by Berit Parten, who tallied six shots, putting three on goal, and assisted on a score. Goal-scorers Kylie Cino and Jada Grove each had four attempts, and both placed three shots on goal. In the net, Galt snuffed out the two attempts that came her way, earning a clean sheet.

Iowa held a 26-2 shot advantage, attempting 13 in each half, and placed 12 of its shots on to ISU's one. The Hawkeyes finished with eight corner kicks and held ISU to none, but the Cyclones had ten saves to Iowa's one.

How it Happened
The Hawkeyes pressured ISU from the jump, earning a pair of corner kicks in the first minute of the contest. After a pair of shots missed the mark, Iowa kept up the attack and drew a Maia Soulis foul in the box to set up a penalty kick for Kylie Cino. Cino would convert the attempt, making it 1-0 in favor of the Hawkeyes.

Iowa kept pushing the pace in the first half, rattling off 13 total shots and forcing McClenahan to make five saves. At the break, Iowa had 13 shots to ISU's two and a 1-0 lead.

Shortly into the second stanza, Iowa again found the back of the net as both Abby Skiff and Berit Parten assisted a Jada Grove score as the Hawkeyes moved in front 2-0.

Iowa would go on to win the contest, 2-0, shutting out the Cyclones for the third consecutive season. The loss marked the fourth in a row for ISU against the Hawkeyes.
