AMES, Iowa – Iowa State diver Julie Dickinson has been named the first Big 12 Diver of the Week for the 2015-16 season, the conference announced Wednesday. It is the second time Dickinson has claimed the award in her career.
Dickinson started off her junior campaign by registering the top Cyclone scores on both the one-meter and three-meter boards in the season-opening meet at Nebraska on Oct. 9.
The junior earned a mark of 260.77 on the one-meter board, more than 15 points better than her previous season-debut best and less than five points from an NCAA Zone Qualifying score. The Clive, Iowa, native notched a score of 249.38 on the three-meter board and was within one point of finishing in the top three for the second time in the meet.
Dickinson and rest of the Cyclones are amid an early-season hiatus, but will return to the pool for their home-opener on Oct. 30 to host Omaha. The meet is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at Beyer Pool.
