Roberts Earns CollegeSwimming.com Weekly Honor

AMES, Iowa – Sophomore Kasey Roberts has been named the CollegeSwimming.com Big 12 Swimmer of the Week, it was announced Tuesday.
Roberts is the first Iowa State swimmer this season to be honored with the award and joins divers Julie Dickinson and Elyse Brouillette as the third Cyclone to earn individual weekly honors in the 2015-16 campaign.
Roberts earned a trio of top-three finishes in individual events in a dual meet against Iowa on Dec. 11 and swam the breaststroke leg of the Iowa State 200 medley relay 'A' squad, which placed second. All four events Roberts swam in finished in the top-20 times in school history for that event.
Roberts' split of 28.32 seconds in the 200 medley relay was the second-fastest breaststroke split of the event. Her time helped the relay team of Harper Emswiler, Roberts, Kaylee Kucera and Alex Flatness become the sixth-fastest 200 medley relay squad in Iowa State history with a time of 1:41.96.
In the 200 breaststoke, Roberts finished in 2:15.37 for the fifth-fastest time in school history. Roberts now owns three of the top-five times in school history for the event, including the Iowa State record.
Roberts and the rest of the Iowa State swimmers have a break from competition until next semester, when they will host Illinois on Jan. 15 at Beyer Pool.
