AMES, Iowa – Iowa State senior Elyse Brouillette has been named the Big 12 Diver of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday. The honor is Brouillette's first of the season and the third of her career, while she joins junior Julie Dickinson as the second Cyclone to take home the award this year.
Due to the recent break from school over the week of Thanksgiving, this week's honor encompasses all competition since Nov. 18's awards.
Brouillette led the Cyclones in two-straight invitationals, earning five top-four finishes across the six events at the KU Dive Invite and the Hawkeye Invitational. Brouillette qualified for finals in all six events between the two competitions.
At the KU Dive Invite Nov. 20-22, Brouillette earned second place on the one-meter board with a score of 247.75. The Omaha, Nebraska, native followed up a strong first day with first-place finishes on three-meter and platform diving the next two days with scores of 270.35 and 219.75, respectfully.
This past weekend at the Hawkeye Invitational, Brouillette tallied a score of 269.65 on the one-meter board for a fourth place finish, followed by a season-high 289.20 on the three-meter board to claim third place. On the final day, Brouillette took seventh place on the platform with a mark of 210.95.
It was the first time in Brouillette's career making finals in all three days of the Hawkeye Invitational and her scores improved from prelims to finals every day.
The Iowa State swimming and diving team returns to action on Dec. 11 for the 2015 installment of the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series. The meet is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at Beyer Hall and admission is free.
