AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State track and field teams will compete in the 40th-annual Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational this weekend at the Bob Devaney Sports Center in Lincoln, Nebraska. The meet will kick off at noon on Feb. 6 with the heptathlon and will conclude with awards at 5 p.m. Feb. 7.
Some of the nation's premiere programs will be in attendance representing four Power Five conferences, including Nebraska, Auburn, Alabama, Southern California, Oklahoma State, Kansas State, Maryland and Minnesota in addition to all four Iowa schools.
With the ISU Classic one week out, the Cyclones will send a smaller crew to Lincoln – 12 men and three women – which will participate in field, sprint, distance and relay events.
Both Iowa State men's and women's squads are coming off impressive performances at the Razorback Invitational which saw 16 personal bests set over the course of the two-day event. Junior sprinter Jared Ingram said the goal this weekend is to produce similar results.
“For me, it's an opportunity to fine-tune myself and get ready for the Classic,” Ingram said of the Husker Invitational. “I'm just focusing on hitting my marks, trying to PR and getting ready for outdoor season.”
