Chayanun, Barquin Earn All-Big 12 Honors

IRVING, Texas - The Big 12 Conference announced its postseason awards in women's golf this afternoon, as Iowa State's Chonlada Chayanun and Celia Barquin were both named to the coaches All-Big 12 First-Team.
Chayanun, a senior from Nakhonratchaslma, Thailand, was named All-Big 12 First-Team for the second consecutive season, joining Sasikarn On-iam (2011, 2014) as the only two Cyclones in school history to earn All-Big 12 honors from the league coaches multiple times.
Chayanun has recorded one of the best careers in school history. Ranked 57th nationally by Golfstat, Chayanun is on pace to break the school record in season stroke average, compiling a 73.0 scoring mark so far this season.
Chayanun earned Big 12 All-Tournament honors for the second-straight season by placing in the top-10 at the 2015 Big 12 Championship. She has finished in the top-10 in four of the last five tournaments and she set school marks for 18-hole score (65) and 54-hole score (209) this season.
Barquin is just the second Cyclone freshman to earn All-Big 12 First-Team honors, joining On-iam, who did it in 2011.
A native of Puente San Miguel, Spain, Barquin is on pace to break On-iam's freshman stroke average record, compiling a 73.40 scoring mark, which ranks second on the team.
Barquin, who is ranked 62nd nationally by Golfstat, is tied for the team lead in top-10 finishes (4).
The Cyclones are competing at the NCAA Raleigh Regional, May 7-9 in Raleigh, N.C.
