AMES, Iowa – For the 26th-straight season, the Iowa State swimming and diving team was named a CSCAA Scholar All-American team for its efforts in the classroom, the organization announced Wednesday.
The distinction – awarded by the College Swimming Coaches Association of American – recognizes teams with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Wednesday's award recognizes the Cyclones' team GPA of 3.20 in the fall 2015 semester.
Under head coach Duane Sorenson, the Cyclones have been named a CSCAA Scholar All-America team in a perfect 19-of-19 years.
The Cyclones have also had at least one student-athlete earn individual CSCAA Scholar All-America honors since the 1999-2000 season. Those honors will be announced following the completion of the spring 2016 semester.
The Iowa State swimming and diving team is back in the pool Jan. 29 for its final road dual meet of the 2015-16 campaign, heading east to face Big 12 foe West Virginia and Villanova. The double-dual meet is slated for a 4 p.m. CST start at WVU Natatorium in Morgantown, West Virginia.
