ATHENS, Georgia – The Iowa State divers kicked off the new year by placing 2-of-3 competitors in the top-half of a 13-team field at the UGA Diving Invitational.
Junior Julie Dickinson led the Cyclone charge on the day with a score of 234.75 to finish in 21st place. Dickinson's degree of difficulty for her set of dives was 14.80, tied for the second-highest in the competition.
Elyse Brouillette started off the year by scoring 224.85 points to claim 28th place and remain a perfect 7-for-7 on finishing in the top-half of diving invitational events during her senior campaign.
Junior Becky Stochl, competing for just the second time this season as she continues to return from injury, earned a score of 169.00. The one-meter board is the only event Stochl is slated to compete in at the invite.
Iowa State returns to Gabrielsen Natatorium for competition on the three-meter board Jan. 4 at 11 a.m. and rounds out the Georgia Diving Invitational Jan. 5 with platform diving.
