DES MOINES, Iowa – The Iowa State tennis team (3-1, 0-0 Big 12) finished Saturday off with a 5-1 win against the North Dakota Fighting Hawks (0-3, 0-0 Big Sky) at the Knapp Tennis Center to go 2-0 on the day.
The Cyclones started off slow when the Fighting Hawks stole the doubles point with their top two pairings beating Iowa State. Regina Espindola and Anna Kuuttila grabbed the only doubles victory against Aliza Deming and Mary Wessman of North Dakota 6-2.
Iowa State turned their play around in singles by winning every matchup in the second dual of the day. The Cyclones didn't lose a single set in their dual. Liza Buss and Annabella Bonadonna both defeated their opponents 6-0, 6-0. Buss moves to 13-2 in singles play.
The Cyclones will look to go perfect on the weekend when they are back in action tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. against the Drake Bulldogs.
