STANFORD, Calif. – The Iowa State women's golf team placed 10th at the Stanford Intercollegiate with a two-day total of 597 (298-299). The third round on Sunday was cancelled due to weather and the tournanament was shortened to 36 holes.
UCLA won the team title at 572, 11 strokes ahead of second-place Stanford.
The 18-team field was one of the most competitive this season. Eight of the teams playing are currently ranked in the Golfweek's top 25, five of those rank in the top 10 — No. 2 Stanford, No. 3 Southern California, No. 5 UCLA, No. 6 Georgia and No. 7 Florida.
Junior Celia Barquin was the low scorer for the Cyclones, tying for eighth at 144. Barquin carded an even-par 71 on Saturday. It was Barquin's first top-10 performance of the season and the ninth of her career.
Freshman teammate Amelia Grohn is tied for 27th at 148.
