02.20.2016 | Track and Field
NOTRE DAME, Indiana – With the Big 12 Indoor Championships looming next weekend, the Iowa State men's track and field squad had a couple of runs at the Alex Wilson Invitational Saturday. The Cyclones' DMR team put up the third-best time in school history, finishing in 9:32.99.
In a field that featured some of the best distance medley relay teams in the country, the Cyclones put up a strong effort. Led by the quartet of Christian DeLago, Deon Sanders, Brandon Wheat and Daniel Everett, ISU finished third in its section and ninth overall in a time of 9:32.99. The time makes the relay the third-fastest in program history, and moves the Cyclones up to No. 15 in the NCAA rankings for the event.
Jacob Aune also took to the track, running in the men's 800-meter run. He put up a good performance in section two, taking third in that race and eighth overall in 1:50.59, just missing out on his indoor personal best from the 2013 indoor season.
