CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The No. 16 Iowa State women's golf team remains in second place after the second round of the Hurricane Invitational. The Cyclones carded a 286 this afternoon for a two-day 567 tally. Northwestern didn't budge from the lead, firing a 275 today to hold a 15-shot lead over the Cyclones at 552.
ISU is one of nine teams in the field ranked in the top-50 in the latest Golfstat national rankings.
Cyclone freshmen Parinda Phokan and Chayanit Wangmahaporn were outstanding today, carding a pair of 1-under 70s to land in the top-10 on the leaderboard. Phokan is 3-under for the tournament at 139 and is currently in fifth place in the medalist race.
Wangmahaporn leaped into the top-10 by going 1-under today. She currently is tied for sixth at 141 along with Cyclone teammate Nattapan Siritrai, who posted a second-round 73.
The tournament concludes tomorrow with the third and final round.
