AMES, Iowa – The No. 16 Iowa State women's golf team is on pace to record one of its greatest seasons in school history. The Cyclones have placed in the top-five in six out of their eight tournaments this year and are looking to make it a seven out of nine at the Dallas Athletic Club/SMU Invitational this weekend.
Three Cyclones are currently ranked in the top-100 in Golfweek's latest poll in freshman Chayanit Wangmahaporn (#62), sophomore Celia Barquin (#65) and freshman Parinda Phokan (#86).
Rookies Wangmahaporn and Phokan have been phenomenal this season. Wangmahaporn is the team leader in stroke average (72.67) and top-10 finishes (4). The young Cyclone posted a career-low 210 at the Mountainview Collegiate, which tied for the second-lowest score in school history. Phokan is third on the team in stroke average at 73.04 and has three top-10 performances on her resume.
Barquin has placed in the top-10 three times this year and has the second-best stroke average on the team at 72.71.
