SAN ANTONIO – The No. 17 Iowa State women's golf team fired a second-round 291 this afternoon at the Big 12 Women's Golf Championship to go into the final round tomorrow down four shots in the team race.
No. 9 Oklahoma State is in first place at 574, while the Cyclones are lurking behind at 578 in second place. No. 31 Texas is in third place at 579.
The Cyclones had another solid round on the links, but OSU posted a 2-under 286 tally to overtake the Cyclones and move into the lead after two rounds.
ISU was powered by freshman Chayanit Wangmahaporn and senior Cajsa Persson today. Wangmahaporn was in the red for the second-straight day, firing a 70 to sit in a tie for second in the medalist race at 141.
Wangmahaporn, who is just one shot out of the lead, racked up a pair of birdies in her bogey-free round.
Persson also carded a 2-under 70 to jump into a tie for fourth individually at 142.
The final round begins tomorrow morning.
