SAN ANTONIO – The No. 17 Iowa State women's golf team finished fourth at the Big 12 Women's Golf Championship, carding a final-round 296 this afternoon.
The Cyclones ended the tournament with a three-round 874 tally, one shot behind third-place TCU. No. 9 Oklahoma State was crowned the champion in its 11-shot deficit (856) over Texas.
OSU's Kenzie Neisen repeated as the tournament medalist (207), defeating Sophie Schubert (Texas) and Ana Ruiz (Oklahoma) by six shots.
ISU's fourth-place showing marks the seventh-straight season where the Cyclones finished in the upper-half at the conference meet.
Iowa State was led by senior Cajsa Persson, who tied for ninth after posting a 74 in the final round. Persson finished the tournament at even par, tallying rounds of 72-70-74 (216). Persson earned all-tournament honors for the third time in her career (2013, 2015, 2016) to join Punpaka Phuntumabamrung as the only Cyclones to finish in the top-10 at the Big 12 Championship three times.
Freshman Chayanit Wangmahaporn tied for 12th in her first appearance at the Big 12 Championship. Wangmahaporn fired rounds of 71-70-76 for a 217 tally.
Sophomore Celia Barquin made a move up the leaderboard after posting a 1-under 71 today. Barquin, who was 2-under on the back nine today, tied for 21st at 222.
Iowa State is a lock to earn its seventh-straight NCAA Regional appearance. The selection show is tomorrow night on the Golf Channel.
