AMES, Iowa - A total of 22 Iowa State track and field student-athletes were named to the Academic All-Big 12 Track and Field Teams, the conference announced Tuesday. The Cyclones were represented by 13 female student-athletes, and nine males on the teams.
Iowa State's Academic All-Big 12 squad was highlighted by a trio of 4.0 student-athletes. For the men, junior
Trey Achterhoff was nominated with a 4.0 GPA, while on the women's side it was
Evelyne Guay and
Christina Hillman who boasted 4.0 GPAs. Hillman, a 2015 Academic All-American, is now a four-time Academic All-Big 12 honoree.
Joining Achterhoff on the men's Academic All-Big 12 First Team was
Jacob Aune, an Curts,
Jan Jeuschede,
Derek Jones,
Taylor Sanderson and
Brandon Wheat. The Cyclones also had
Christian DeLago and
Jacob Hoogensen named to the Academic All-Big 12 Second Team.
All 13 of ISU's women's honorees were named with First Team honors. Joining Guay and Hillman were
Abby Caldwell,
Kate DeSimone,
Jackie Feist,
Alyssa Gonzalez,
Kristen Henson,
Maryn Lowry,
Taylor McDowell,
Maddie Nagle,
Katie Reeves,
Kaci Storm and
Andrea Toppin.
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify student-athletes must maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
