AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State women's golf team signed three players to national letters of intent, announced today by head coach Christie Martens.
Taglao Jeeravivitaporn, Vivian Lee and Tenley Moretti will enroll at Iowa State in the fall of 2018.
"We are thrilled to announce the addition of three talented players to our roster," Martens said. "We are losing an impactful class and this class will be ready to step into a huge role for our program."
Jeeravivitaporn is one of the top junior players in Thailand, currently ranked No. 641 on the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR). She finished second at the 2017 Thailand Amateur Open with a 212 (73-69-70).
She was the champion at the World Stars of Junior Golf in 2017, firing rounds of 70-70-66 (206).
"Taglao is an extremely long hitter with great experience and many wins under her belt," Martens said. "Her personality will be a perfect fit for us."
Lee, who is from Hong Kong, has established herself as one of the top junior players nationally. Lee competed as an amateur in the Hong Kong Ladies Open, a professional event. She also represented Hong Kong in the Asia Pacific Amateur Ladies Team Championship.
Lee has resided in Canada since 2015 where she won four tournaments, including a Nike Golf Junior Series event in 2015. She tied for 11th at the 2017 Canadian Junior Girls Championship.
"Vivian has been living in Canada for the past two years in preparation for Iowa State," Martens said. "She is a phenomenal ball striker, and has a never-give-up mentality. She has played all over the world and has a great golf temperament."
Moretti, a native of Ankeny, Iowa, is one of the top preps in Iowa.
A 2017 Des Moines Register Elite Team All-State member, Moretti won the 2016 Class 5A state title and tied for second in 2017 for Centennial High School.
"Tenley has proven herself as one of the finest golfers in Iowa and throughout the United States," Martens said. "She has a great passion for golf and improving her game. Her enthusiastic personality will be a great addition to our team."
