INDIANOLA, Iowa – Iowa State's Chris Celona got a win in the men's hammer throw Thursday at the Kip Janvrin Open. Of the Cyclones' five competitors on the day, three finished in the top-three of their respective competitions.
Chris Celona had three of the top throws of the men's hammer throw competition. He was the only man over 56 meters, with his fourth throw being the winning effort at 184-10. Brett Peters took sixth (169-5), while Vlad Pavlenko checked in at eighth (164-7).
Ariana Kuhn continued her strong season in the women's hammer throw, taking third with a best toss of 171-9. In the men's shot put, Zach Timm picked up a second-place finish with a best toss of 48-11.
