LUBBOCK, Texas – The Iowa State women's golf team is in 12th place after two rounds at the NCAA Lubbock Regional at The Rawls Course in Lubbock, Texas.
The Cyclones carded a second-round 299 this afternoon for a two-day 603 tally.
Arizona State remains in the lead at 570, 12 shots ahead of Texas Tech at 582.
The top six teams after 54 holes will advance to the NCAA Championships, May 19-24 in Sugar Grove, Ill.
Junior Celia Barquin made a nice move up the leaderboard with a 1-under 71 this afternoon. Barquin is tied for 15th at 146.
Barquin, who began her round on the back nine, had a strong finish, going 3-under in her last eight holes, including birdies on three of the last four. She had six birdies total for the day.
The top three individual players not among the six teams advancing will also qualify for the NCAA Championship. She has positioned herself to be in the hunt for the coveted three spots in tomorrow's final round.
Chayanit Wangmahaporn posted a 74 today to put her in a tie for 28th at 149. M.J. Kamin also made a nice move with a 75 in the second round. She is currently tied for 56th at 154.
The final round concludes tomorrow.
