LONDON – Former Iowa State All-American and 2016 Olympian Hillary Bor will be representing Team USA this week at the 2017 IAAF World Championships in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Taking place at the Olympic Stadium in London, Bor begins competition with the prelims on Sunday, Aug. 6 at 4:05 a.m. Central Time. Bor will be aiming to get into the final that will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 8 at 3:10 p.m. Central.
Bor, who has made Team USA for a second-consecutive year, earned his trip to the World Championships after finishing third in the steeplechase back in June at the USATF Outdoor Championships.
The career for Bor's has skyrocketed since his eighth-place finish in the steeplechase at the Rio Olympics a year ago. At the Diamond League meeting in Brussels, Belgium last September, Bor posted an nine-second personal best with a 8:13.68. In 2017 it has been more of the same, as he has dropped his career-best mar down to 8:11.82 which he ran at the Diamond League Rome. Bor's mark of 8:11.82 ranks him No. 10 in the world this year.
