VERONA, Wis. – The Iowa State women's golf team advanced to the finals of the East and West Match Play with a 3-2 victory over Ohio State in the semifinals this afternoon.
The Cyclones will face Wisconsin in championship title match tomorrow. The Badgers defeated Oregon, 4-1.
Senior Nattapan Siritrai got the Cyclones on the board first with a decisive 6&5 victory over Adeena Shears. Siritrai was 6 up after 12 holes and cruised the rest of the way.
Senior Celia Barquin Arozamena was 4Up after nine holes and held on for a 2&1 win over Rio Watanabe. Barquin Arozamena was 3-under in her first nine holes to help take a commanding lead in the match.
Junior Chayanit Wangmahaporn clinched the Cyclone victory with a 2&1 win over Niki Schroeder. Wangmahaporn fell behind early before rallying. It was all square after nine holes, but Wangmahaporn won holes 10 and 12 to move ahead (2Up) with six holes left. Her par on No. 17 closed the match after Schroeder bogeyed.
