Cyclones Land 16 On Academic All-Big 12 List

IRVING, Texas – The Big 12 Conference has announced the 2018 Academic All-Big 12 swimming teams. Iowa State placed 14 swimmers on the first-team (3.20-4.0 GPA) and a pair on the second-team (3.0-3.19 GPA). Four Cyclones received perfect 4.00 GPAs during the 2017-18 season: Evan Hundley, Mary Kate Luddy, Kasey Roberts and Emma Ruehle. Including the four Iowa State student-athletes, only seven Big 12 Conference representatives received perfect GPAs.
Also representing the Cyclones on the first-team are Ali Basel, Danica Delaquis, Laura Miksch, Katherine Mueller, Kami Pankratz, Sydney Ronald, Haley Ruegemer, Polina Shynkarenko, Keely Soellner and Jessi Storer. Kat Jones and Silqi Luo received second team honors.
The Cyclones' 16 honorees is the highest since 2015, where they also placed 16 on the list. The team earned their best semester GPA during the fall 2017 academic semester, a 3.58. Iowa State will be in action from Feb. 21-24 for the 2018 Big 12 Championships.
